A County Durham takeaway is adding extra flavour for people ordering food tonight - in the form of cash.
Mondo’s Pizzeria in Wingate is adopting a Willy Wonka-style method of giving back to customers; a select number of customers could bag a special prize at random.
The Peterlee takeaway is putting cash-filled bags into a select number of orders for customers ordering a Friday night takeaway on October 16.
Anyone who orders from Mondo could find the cash prize inside their garlic sauce tubs which come with the pizzas.
In a social media video posted on October 15, Mondo’s showed the cash pots being filled with garlic sauce, and said:
“We’re going to give back to our customers, so we’re going to hide money in your tub of garlic.”
The takeaway told locals to "get themselves down," with customers reacting excitedly.
One commenter wrote: “This is so good, I’ll be ordering.”
The giveaway applies to JustEat, Foodhub, phone and in-person orders, with the shop open from 4pm until 11.30pm.
Another commenter joked: “Do you do chilli sauce with pound coins in as well?”
The County Durham takeaway is praised locally for its chicken and pizzas, with one review dubbing its parmo “the best parmo you’ll ever have."
Mondo's social media also hinted at "amazing things coming up," teasing similar events for Halloween and Christmas.
The pizzeria said these giveaways were to show how much Mondo's appreciates its loyal customers.
