John Cumberland (Care Crisis, HAS, Oct 13) sums up well the situation regarding the cost of illegal immigration.

In the very same issue of the paper, we have a report that a local charity for those in poverty and with health issues is struggling through lack of support and donations because of "poverty fatigue".

It is evident that it is not just our elderly who are suffering and I dread to think what will happen to some of our younger generation.

Our own people should be given priority.
