A young entrepreneur is preparing to fulfil her teenage dream of opening a café in Darlington.
Aiesha Begum, 20, from Darlington, is preparing to open Ansari’s Cafe at 5 Crown Street, bringing together dishes inspired by different cuisines.
The café will serve a mix of Korean and Turkish-inspired dishes, comfort food and familiar café favourites, with Aiesha hoping to offer something a little different in the town.
Opening her own business is something she has wanted to do since she was a teenager.
Aiesha said: “Opening my own business has always been a dream of mine since I was at the age of 13 or 14.
“I’ve explored different industries, trying to find the right opportunity to turn that ambition into something meaningful.
“At 20, I’ve decided to take that leap and bring my vision to life by opening Ansari’s Café in Darlington town centre.”
Rather than sticking to the traditional café model, Aiesha wants Ansari’s to be somewhere people can try different flavours, while still finding the familiar food they know and love.
She said: “I wanted to create somewhere that makes everyday life feel a little more special.
“Whether someone needs a comforting bowl of soup on a difficult day, a delicious meal for when they don’t feel like cooking, a freshly prepared sandwich on the go, or somewhere to sit back, relax, read a book whilst listening to their favourite songs, and enjoy good food, I want Ansari’s to offer something for every mood and occasion.”
The menu will take inspiration from a number of different cuisines, something Aiesha hopes will encourage people to try food they may not have had before.

She said: “From Korean favourites and Turkish inspired dishes to hearty comfort food and familiar cafe classics, my aim is to introduce Darlington to flavours and experiences that feel exciting, distinctive and different.
“I believe there is room in Darlington for a café that challenges expectations and offers customers something beyond the ordinary.
“I want Ansari’s to be somewhere people discover new favourites, explore different cuisines and find comfort in the food they love.”
Choosing Darlington town centre for the business was important to Aiesha; she loves the energy of the area and wants to become part of its food scene.
Aiesha has also put a lot of thought into the name and identity of the café.
She said: “Ansari’s represents the richness, elegance and distinctive identity I want the brand to embody.
“I want the café to have its own personality, atmosphere and presence, something people remember.
“Our motto is ‘Be Iconic, Be Ansari.’ For me, that means being bold enough to do things differently, creating an experience people remember and building a brand that stands for quality, individuality and ambition.”
Aiesha is now working through the final preparations before opening the doors.

“I want Ansari’s to become a welcoming part of Darlington, somewhere people can enjoy delicious food, discover new flavours and make everyday life a little easier and more enjoyable through our comforting meals.”
