It is alleged that he concealed or destroyed the knife used in the alleged murder.

Emergency services attended but Mr Mellon was pronounced dead at the scene.

After his death, tributes were paid to Mr Mellon which included a post online from his brother James.

He wrote: "I still can’t believe you’re gone.

"A part of my heart has gone with you, and words can’t explain the pain I’m feeling right now. You were more than just my brother; you were a part of my life, my memories, and my heart. Life will never be the same without you.

"I wish I could have one more conversation, one more hug, and one more chance to tell you how much you mean to me. Although you’re no longer here with us, you will forever live in my heart and in my memories.

"Rest peacefully, my brother. You will never be forgotten. Until we meet again"
