MOTORISTS are being warned of heavy traffic along a main road in North Yorkshire.

Abnormally high traffic is building along the A661 Wetherby Road both ways from the A658 Kestrel Roundabout to Forest Lane, near Harrogate.

The traffic has been made worse by roadworks in the area, AA Traffic said.

Traffic is also heavy around the Empress Roundabout, leading from Knaresborough Road and on the A61 Ripon Road both ways.

A spokesperson for AA Traffic said: “Delays of nine minutes on A661 Wetherby Road Westbound between A661 and A6040 Knaresborough Road (Empress roundabout).

“Average speed ten mph.”

More on this as we get it.
