A heritage railway is set to launch a spooky new Christmas experience with a gothic twist.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) will host 'A Bloody Merry Christmas' this December, an hour-long steam train journey from Pickering to Levisham and back, featuring ghostly tales, dark festive legends, and a cast of sinister Christmas characters.

The experience will be hosted by Mad Alice from the Bloody Tour of York and promises a night of macabre storytelling and humour.

Laura Strangeway, CEO of NYMR, said: "We can’t wait to welcome Mad Alice back for a wicked twist on the traditional Christmas experience this year with the Bloody Merry Christmas Express.

"We wanted to offer something that feels completely different to the traditional Christmas celebrations and excite visitors.

"From the moment guests step on board, they can expect plenty of laughs and festive frights, all set against the atmospheric backdrop of the North York Moors."

Passengers will encounter a mischievous Father Christmas, a twisted Bloody Sugar Plum Fairy, and the horned Christmas nightmare Krampus.

Tickets are priced at £35 per person for those aged 16 and over, and advance booking is recommended due to limited availability.
