A bridleway near Everingham is due to be diverted under an order made by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

A section of Everingham Bridleway No. 1 will be diverted, following a decision made under the Highways Act 1980 and the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, redirecting a 303-metre stretch of the bridleway.

The new route will be approximately 450 metres long, starting from Everingham Lane and joining the existing bridleway.

The order, made on 6 October 2026, details the full extent of the diversion.

The new path will begin at grid reference SE 8205 4402, proceeding south-easterly for 255 metres, crossing a drain for 10 metres, then turning south-easterly for another 31 metres to grid reference SE 8223 4379.

From there, the path will turn north-easterly for 154 metres, rejoining the original bridleway at grid reference SE 8235 4388.

The decision has been marked on an official map, which is available for public viewing.

The council is inviting any representations or objections to be submitted in writing to the Interim Assistant Chief Executive Officer of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Submissions should clearly state the grounds on which they are made.

Should no objections be raised, or if any objections are withdrawn, the council may confirm the order without involving the Secretary of State.

However, if the order is forwarded to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any unresolved objections will be sent along with the order.
