An award-winning fish and chip shop in Yorkshire has been highly praised for its “exceptionally delicious” food.
The Scrap Box can be found along the A1079 on the way out of York but is worth stopping for.
The fish and chip shop is loved by locals and has won multiple awards since it opened in 2016.
What is the Scrap Box like?
After the Scrap Box was named the best Fish & Chip Takeaway at the National Fish & Chip Award earlier this year, Press reporter Nadia Jefferson-Brown popped in to see try out the nation’s most-talked about takeaway treasure - here's her review from April.
The spot was also visited by TikTok content creators, York Only Pans.
The pair tested out the shop and said: “We ordered two regular fish and chips with curry sauce, tartare sauce, and mushy peas, and at under £12 per portion, it’s incredible value.
“The ratio of chips to fish was unreal too.
“The fish was flaky with a light crispy batter and the chips were perfectly cooked”.

The Scrap Box has a small menu featuring a few fish options including haddock, fish bites, and classic cod all served with chips.
There are a few alternate options as well including scampi and Yorkshire fishcakes.
For those who do not like fish, you can instead choose chicken nuggets, a sausage or spam to enjoy with a portion of chips.
You can add on a few sides such as mushy peas, curry sauce, and the shop’s homemade tartare sauce.

The Scrap Box has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 on Tripadvisor with 280 people leaving reviews.
One person said: “A great find, on arriving was met by such friendly staff, food was delivered quickly.
“Best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time.
“Highly recommended.”
Another person said: “Blink and you’ll miss it, when driving down A1079 Dunnington.
“Locals and celebrities alike rave about this Fish & Chip Shop.
“As a local myself it’s our go to chippy, that’s out of the way but the food speaks for itself.
