Last few tickets remain for York charity ball

The last few tickets are on sale for an annual charity ball at York Racecourse next month, raising money for pancreatic cancer research and support.

The Three Bears Foundation Winter Charity Ball takes place on Saturday 14 November, running from 6:30pm to midnight.

The black-tie event includes a three-course meal, welcome drink, live music from the South West Band, and both silent and live auctions.

Last year’s ball raised over £18,000, and organisers hope to exceed that total this year with support from York-based housebuilder Persimmon.

The Three Bears Foundation was set up in 2018 in memory of Jane Burn, who died from pancreatic cancer.

The charity funds research at York St John University, supports local organisations and works with Pancreatic Cancer UK to improve survival rates.

Roxy Tuohy, a trustee of the foundation, said: “Our Winter Ball is an amazing opportunity to bring together our fantastic supporters, volunteers and trustees to celebrate the impact we’ve made over the last 12 months and to share our plans for the future, and just have a brilliant night!

“Pancreatic cancer remains one of the deadliest cancers, with survival rates that urgently need to improve.”

Kate Starkie, Managing Director of Persimmon Yorkshire, said: “As a York-based company we’re especially privileged to support such a fantastic event. The Three Bears Foundation does an amazing job raising money across Yorkshire to support cancer research.”
