A sex offender who was banned from going to GP surgeries without a chaperone has been jailed for breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order again.

The five-year order was imposed to protect the public and health care professionals from the risk posed by 40-year-old Christopher Williams, but a judge heard how he committed four breaches within weeks of it being made.

Those breaches led to a 32-week suspended jail sentence being imposed in March this year, but three months later Williams again breached the order by attending twice on the same day at the Rydings Hall surgery in Brighouse without a chaperone.

Man had talked loudly about STDs in GPs

Prosecutor Sarah Tailor told Bradford Crown Court that during his visits Williams had talked loudly about needing treatment for a sexually transmitted disease and the practice manager called the police.

The court heard that Williams, of St Martin’s View in Brighouse, had previously received a community order after he sexually assaulted a woman and another person.

Back in 2025, he had also been given a conditional caution after he exposed himself to another woman.

Man jailed

Williams refused to appear at court via a prison video link and Judge Christopher Smith went ahead with his sentence hearing in his absence.

He imposed a 10-month jail sentence for the two breaches in June which Williams had admitted and gave him an additional 24 weeks in custody from the suspended sentence.

'High level of risk to public'

Judge Smith said the conditional caution in 2025 had done little to deter Williams from further sexual offending and described his previous convictions as “worrying”.

The judge noted that a pre-sentence report had indicated that Williams presented a “high level of risk” to the public as well as himself.

“This is offending which is so serious that only immediate custody can be justified and it is the only way in which his risk can be managed,” said the judge.

The judge confirmed that the existing Sexual Harm Prevention Order would continue to run until 2031.
