A shop is in the running to be named 'best newcomer of the year' in the National Fish and Chip Awards.
Yorkie's on High Street in Skipton, which opened earlier this year, is one of five businesses to be shortlisted for the award.
The five will be whittled down to three in the next few weeks with the winner announced at the awards ceremony on February 24 next year at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.
Owned and run by Matthew and Claudia Hurst, Yorkie's aims to bring a fresh, modern take to classic fish and chips.
Matthew's father, Michael Hurst, opened Ingleton Fisheries before going on to establish the original Mother Hubbard's brand.
Matthew's first shop was Kingfishers in Cross Hills where he developed a passion for quality fish and chips.
At the opening of Yorkie's, Matthew said: “Skipton’s a fantastic town with a strong sense of community.
"We’re proud to bring Yorkie’s here and build on the family legacy that started over 50 years ago.”
The National Fish and Chip Awards is the official competition for the industry and has been rewarding excellence since 1988.
Businesses that are successful in making it through to the various stages will be challenged with a series of tasks, including in-depth interviews, cooking demonstrations, taste tests, mystery shop visits and more.
A spokesperson for the awards said: "The multi-round process has been created by highly successful fish and chip entrepreneurs and industry specialists to ensure the benchmarks set are at premier levels.
"It’s not just about exceptional food but also how business and environmental best practice, product knowledge, employer responsibilities and health and safety, bring the whole operation together."
