Keighley Leisure Centre’s swimming pool will close for essential maintenance later this month.

The closure, which will take place from Friday, October 23, to Monday, November 2, will allow for deep cleaning of the poolside and surrounding areas.

The drainage channels around the pool, along with the cleaning of the pool and balance tanks, will be cleaned, and remedial tiling works within the changing area.

Councillor Ian Walker, portfolio holder for neighbourhoods and communities, said: "While we appreciate that this temporary closure will be frustrating for customers, it is important that we carry out these essential works.

"The works represent a preventative maintenance and improvement programme designed to protect the long-term condition of the facility and ensure the pool remains safe, clean, and fully operational for customers."

During the closure, the pool and changing areas will be unavailable, but other parts of the leisure centre will remain open, including the gym, squash courts, and fitness classes.

The only exception is Friday, October 30, when the entire centre will close for urgent repairs to the main drain.

Last year, Keighley Leisure Centre underwent major refurbishments, including new energy-saving upgrades and pool filtration improvements.

The current maintenance is related to managing naturally occurring algae within the pool environment.
