Keighley charity celebrates a quarter-century of community support

A CHARITY is celebrating 25 years of supporting its community and helping people live healthier lives.

Keighley Healthy Living, based on Scott Street, marked the milestone with a special event held on September 30, drawing nearly 200 attendees.

Guests enjoyed exercise taster sessions, food, a commemorative mosaic project, and the chance to explore the charity’s garden.

Melanie Hey, CEO of Keighley Healthy Living, said: "We loved inviting everyone in for our 25-year celebration.

"It was great to see so many service users, volunteers and other professionals, and engage in many interesting conversations.

"It was a great opportunity to reflect on the growth of KHL and reminisce on the history of the organisation.

"It was fantastic to hear all the stories and the impact of KHL over the years."

The event also served as a platform to showcase the organisation’s history and ongoing work across Keighley and the wider Bradford district.

Pam Essler, chair of Keighley Healthy Living, said: "A big thank you to everyone for all the work that went into planning and supporting such a wonderful event.

"Not only did it showcase the present organisation but also provided an opportunity for people to reminisce and remember the past as well as plan for the future.

"We are so lucky to have such a strong supportive group of people working with us.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

The charity began in 2001 with a small group aiming to make Keighley a healthier place to live.

It now employs more than 30 staff and delivers a wide range of health and wellbeing programmes.

To mark the anniversary, a tree was planted in the grounds of Cliffe Castle.

The tree stands above the play area and bears a plaque reading: "Celebrating 25 years of community growth, Keighley Healthy Living 2026."
