A pop-up bar inspired by Christmas movie magic is set to open.

Love Actually and Home Alone-themed cocktails are coming to Grey Street, Newcastle, where festive pop-up venue Christmas at Grey Street will take over the former Leila Lily’s site over the festive period.

The launch of Christmas at Grey Street on Thursday, November 12, will coincide with the city’s Christmas lights switch-on.

Guests will be greeted by two stilt-walking Nutcrackers and guided under a festive archway as they arrive.

Inside, the bar features green and gold décor and offers two themed experiences: the main bar and a Christmas movie room.

The movie room will screen subtitled Christmas classics without sound, with a complimentary mini bag of popcorn for each movie room customer.

Cocktails are at the heart of the experience, with each drink inspired by a Christmas film, dessert, or seasonal twist on a classic.

Creations include To Me, You Are Perfect, a vodka-based strawberry martini topped with cream and a rose petal, inspired by Love Actually, and The Filthy Marg, a margarita with a Home Alone twist.

There is also a Tiramisu Martini, a creamy cocktail finished with a sponge finger and chocolate shavings.

All Christmas-themed cocktails are priced at £9, with a festive happy hour from 5pm to 7pm offering two cocktails for £15.

The bar will also serve a classic cocktail menu at £8 each or two for £14 during happy hour.

Other features include a self-service Guinness machine and a selection of Hawkstone products, made famous on TV’s Clarkson’s Farm, including vodka, gin, cider, and beer.

£1 from every hot chocolate and Aperol Spritz sold will be donated to the venue’s nominated charity for 2026, Children’s Cancer North.

There will be live music on Friday, November 13 of the opening weekend, with a mix of live performances and DJ sets scheduled throughout December.
