Schoolchildren across North Yorkshire are set to receive high-visibility safety gear under a new campaign aimed at making journeys to and from school safer during the darker months.

The Bright Journeys scheme, launched by David Wilson Homes, will provide hi-vis items such as vests, reflective bag tags, and drawstring kit bags to help pupils stay visible during the school run.

The campaign aims to promote safer, more confident, and active travel to school for up to 2,000 children nationwide.

Paul Hogan, sales director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, said: "At David Wilson Homes, we are committed to creating communities where families can thrive.

"Through Bright Journeys, we are helping local children stay safe and visible while encouraging active travel and raising awareness of road safety.

"We hope the equipment provides pupils and parents with extra confidence during the school run, particularly during the darker autumn and winter months."
