Fresh turf is being laid as part of the ongoing transformation of one of Scotland’s most recognisable public spaces.
The £24 million redevelopment of George Square in Glasgow has reached a new stage, with grass now being installed as part of wider landscaping works.

We previously reported that a section of the square reopened to the public last month, giving visitors a first look at the changes, though work is still underway across much of the site.
The project is part of the Glasgow Avenues programme, a broader investment scheme to improve public spaces and encourage more people to visit, work and spend time in the city centre.
Once complete, the redeveloped square will offer enhanced spaces for events and public gatherings.
Laying turf marks another visible step forward in the project, which aims to create a greener, more welcoming civic space in the heart of Glasgow.
Once complete, the revamped square will feature raised lawns, landscaping, informal play areas and new seating alongside restored historic features.
The square first closed last year, with new phases implemented as works progressed.
