A police investigation remains ongoing into an alleged sexual assault near a York car park.
North Yorkshire Police is continuing to urge anyone with information about the reported incident on the public footpath connecting Piccadilly to Castle Car Park on Wednesday, September 30, to come forward.
The force said the alleged victim was being supported by specially trained officers following the reported incident at about 7pm on September 30.
Detectives have said a white man seen in the city centre at the time wearing a pink T-shirt with a black circular logo on the front may have important information to help the investigation.
A police spokesperson said the alleged victim cannot recall the exact location of the reported assault.
Senior investigating officer Matt Wilkinson, of North Yorkshire Police, said the man seen in the city centre at the time of the incident “may have important information which could assist our investigation, and I would urge him to come forward and speak to us”.
“I would also urge anyone who was in York city centre at around 7pm [on September 30] and saw or heard anything that could assist our investigation to contact us," he said.
“Even if you think the information you have is insignificant, please get in touch. It could prove important to our enquiries.”
A police cordon remained in place next to the Coppergate Car Park after the reported sexual assault and the following day.
Coppergate Car Park was closed as police urged people to avoid the area after the alleged incident.
Anyone with information that could help police is asked to phone 101 quoting reference number 12260192537.
