York tulip fields to open with 750,000 blooms in 2027, reports MAXINE GORDON
A NEW five-acre tulip attraction is set to open near York next spring showcasing more than 750,000 tulips across more than 100 varieties.
The new tulip visitor attraction will open at Escrick Grange just outside York.
It is the brainchild of Farmer Copleys, the team behind the award-winning Tulip Festival at Pontefract.
The York expansion follows Farmer Copleys’ Pontefract event being named Rural & Farm Event of the Year 2025 and will give more visitors the chance to experience vast fields of tulips in bloom on a brand-new site in North Yorkshire.
Planting at York tulip fields is due to begin this month, with more than 100 tulip varieties set to be planted across the five-acre site by the farm team led by Jacob Copley.
Early April, when the fields burst into colour, visitors will be able to explore striking displays and immersive garden design, set against the glorious backdrop of the idyllic York countryside.

Heather Copley, co-founder and Queen Bee of Farmer Copleys, said: “Over the past three years, we have seen how much people love being surrounded by tulips - why wouldn’t they?
"The response to our Pontefract Tulip Festival has been incredible, and we wanted to build on that success by creating another opportunity for visitors further afield to enjoy the experience.
“York felt like the perfect place to bring that vision to life. Escrick Grange offers a beautiful and distinctive setting, and we are excited to create something truly special there.
