A new fund is offering vital support to people facing financial hardship across East Riding.
The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) was introduced by the Department for Work and Pensions to help low-income and vulnerable residents facing financial hardship, replacing the former Household Support Fund.
Backed by more than £3.8 million from the Department for Work and Pensions, the scheme aims to provide practical and timely assistance to those in need across the region.
Councillor Nigel Wilkinson, cabinet member for finance and governance at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "This fund gives us an important opportunity to improve emergency and welfare support to our communities across the East Riding.
"These changes will keep urgent help available for residents, while also investing in advice, prevention, housing support, community support and longer-term help with money problems.
"This will enhance the support available and make it easier for residents to get the help they need."
The CRF offers a range of support for people struggling with debt, housing, food, energy costs, and access to advice.
It will run for three years, giving the council the chance to develop a more accessible and tailored support system.
Those facing a financial emergency will still be able to receive crisis payments, along with personalised advice, debt support, and practical help.
The council’s voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) partners will provide outreach and prevention services, including debt management, budgeting, benefits advice, income maximisation, and energy cost advice.
Residents can also receive help to stay in their homes through housing payments and access to wider community support networks.
The fund also aims to address the underlying causes of financial hardship by offering clear guidance and support options.
