Grace Day, senior business agent for childcare and education at Christie & Co, said: "It has been a pleasure to act on behalf of Wendy throughout the sale process.
"I am pleased that the nursery has been acquired by first-time buyers who are passionate about the sector and keen to build on the nursery's success.
"This sale is a great example of the strong demand that exists from first-time buyers seeking established childcare businesses."
The Wendy House operates from a detached, single-storey property on St Helen's Road and is equipped to support children's learning, development and wellbeing.
It features a large, enclosed outdoor play area with an all-weather canopy, a separate staff cabin, and parking for up to four vehicles.
Located about two miles from York city centre, the nursery is well positioned for both local families and commuters, offering easy access to the A64 and A1237.
Ms Wood decided to sell the business as part of her plans to retire.
The nursery was marketed by Christie & Co and ultimately secured by the Caunts, who are entering the childcare sector for the first time.
The sale price has not been disclosed.
