A scooter club has raised more than £5,000 for a cancer support centre through a series of charity events.

York Inset Scooter Club raised £5,800 for York Hospital’s Magnolia Centre, which provides cancer care and support.

Funds were raised through events including the popular Mods and Rockers charity ride, where hundreds of scooters and motorbikes travel through York in support of the centre.

Becky White, community fundraiser at York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, said: "We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at York Inset Scooter Club for their continued support.

"To have raised over £5,800 since 2022 is an amazing achievement and shows just how much hard work they have put into supporting the Magnolia Centre."

The money will help the charity fund extras that improve patient care and experience, providing support beyond what NHS funding covers.

Three members of the scooter club recently visited the centre to meet staff and see first-hand how their fundraising is making a difference.

Ms White added: "A huge thank you to the club and everyone who has attended events, donated or supported their fundraising over the years.

"Your generosity really does make a difference."
