Police warning as North Yorkshire beauty spot closed due to emergency incident

North Yorkshire Police have closed a beauty spot due to an ongoing emergency incident.

Cornelian Bay, between Scarborough and Cayton Bay, is shut.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Cornelian Bay along the coast is likely to be closed for the foreseeable future whilst emergency services and partners work at the scene of an incident.”

The Scarborough lifeboat was launched this morning.

And the Yorkshire Air Ambulance was also seen overhead but it is not confirmed whether this is the same incident.

Cornelian Bay is a sandy, sheltered beach accessed by a steep lane just off the A165 Filey Lane.

The Cleveland Way runs along the clifftop.
