According to the private train operator, starting with the timetable change in December, FlixTrain will offer up to 20 daily trips between Hamburg and Berlin and hourly departures on peak days. The company said this in a press release dated October 13.

The private company will also offer “up to six daily trips” between Berlin and Frankfurt. Also new to FlixTrain’s network is the route between Berlin and Bremen, where FlixTrain will offer up to 10 daily trips. Travel times will also be reduced even further. In the press release, FlixTrain emphasised that “on many routes, FlixTrain is faster than ICE trains.”

Services from Düsseldorf, Essen and Duisburg to Berlin will range from six to 16 trips daily. The same services will also be running from Köln. Tickets for journeys from the timetable change on December 13 onwards can be booked for all FlixTrain lines from October 14.

If the schedule for 2027 goes ahead as planned, the train service will have doubled its capacity in the coming year. This could make a big difference for people travelling within Germany who want another option outside of the national rail service, Deutsche Bahn.
