Snack bars sold at Asda and Sainsbury's have been recalled due to an undeclared peanut risk.

Halo Foods Ltd is withdrawing batches of Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars after a packaging mistake.

Peanut butter bars were accidentally placed inside Skinny Whip Toffee bar wrappers at the production site.

Because of the packaging error, the wrappers do not state that the snack contains peanuts.

This means the product presents a potential health risk to anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

An allergy alert has been issued by the Food Standards Agency to warn consumers about the affected packs.

The recall affects five-packs of 20g bars marked with batch code 6238 and a best before date of August 2027.

Affected boxes contain individual bars carrying time stamps between 8.30am and 10.30am.

Stock was distributed to selected Sainsbury's stores across England, alongside selected Asda supermarkets in England and Scotland.

Consumers who have bought the affected product are urged not to eat it.

Customers should return the bars to the store where they were bought to receive a full refund.

Shoppers with concerns about their health after eating the snack are advised to seek medical guidance.

Halo Foods confirmed that no other Skinny products are affected by this packaging issue.

Point-of-sale notices are being displayed in affected stores to explain the reason for the recall.

Notice posters displayed in retail branches explain what steps customers should take to claim their money back.

Support organisations for people with food allergies have also been notified to help spread the warning.

Shoppers with questions can contact the customer helpline on 0800 298 3969 or email Enquiries@skinnybars.co.uk .

What is a product recall?

Food products that are unsafe or unsuitable for consumption are managed through withdrawals or recalls.

A withdrawal involves removing an item from shop shelves so that it can no longer be purchased.

When a product recall takes place, members of the public are asked to return items they have already taken home.

The Food Standards Agency issues Allergy Alerts when products fail to declare allergens or carry incorrect packaging.

Warnings are also circulated if foods become contaminated with foreign objects or bacteria.

In serious cases, the agency issues a Food Alert for Action to instruct local authorities on enforcement measures.

These procedures ensure that food businesses protect public safety and prevent avoidable harm to consumers.
