Loosely based on Bizet’s opera, the show moves the action from a 19th-century Spanish cigarette factory to a greasy 1950s garage-diner in the American Mid-West.
The arrival of a handsome and enigmatic stranger shatters the dreams and passions of a small town, sending its inhabitants into an unstoppable spiral of greed, lust, betrayal and revenge.
Matthew Bourne’s vivid storytelling is combined with a dramatic score by Terry Davies, featuring Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite after Bizet’s Carmen.
The production promises an intense theatrical experience that will ignite the senses.
