Wagons, waltzers, and a big wheel have taken over Yarm as the fair rolls into town for 2026.

The High Street cobbles are now a sea of white-knuckle rides after the fair set up camp in the town last night (October 13).

The event, which dates as far back as 1207, will kick off tomorrow at 6pm and is expected to attract thousands of thrill seekers across the next three days.

New pictures taken on Wednesday (October 14) show the rides towering above the High Street as teams get to work on getting the fair ready for visitors.

While there is still plenty of work to do, main attractions including the Miami, which rotates a row of seats around a wall, the dodgems, and the Super Star, which lifts passengers into the air and spins on a rotating arm, are already visible.

Other attractions back for this year include the big wheel, helter skelter, ghost train, and an array of kids rides including a mini coaster.

The road was closed last night for five hours to allow the wagons to move in and will remain closed when the fair is on across the next few days.

The Saturday typically hosts the Riding of the Fair, a centuries-old tradition that sees horses trot their way up and down the High Street in a nod to the event’s livestock trading history.
