A temporary waiting ban has been imposed on a busy Newcastle road, according to a public notice.

Newcastle City Council made the order for Westgate Road on October 8 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Vehicles will be banned from waiting at any time on both sides of Westgate Road, from its junction with Grainger Park Road for 170 metres westwards.

The order will allow essential works on or near the road to be carried out.

Police, fire and ambulance vehicles responding to emergencies will be exempt from the ban.

The ban has been enforced since October 14, provided the required signs are displayed, and will remain in force until April 2.
