A volunteer-run community centre in Aberdeenshire has secured almost £15,000 to fund essential building repairs and improve accessibility for local residents.

Kinellar Community Centre (KCC) in Blackburn has been awarded £14,925 through the Asda Foundation’s Local Community Spaces Fund, which is supporting 73 projects across the UK.

The grant will fund replacement flooring, refreshed interior paintwork and the installation of push-pad fire-safe doors, helping to make the building safer and more accessible.

The centre welcomes around 450 people every week and hosts a range of activities, including youth groups, over-60s clubs, fitness classes and community events.

The funding comes during the final year of the Asda Foundation’s five-year commitment to improving community spaces across the UK.

Since 2022, the foundation has invested more than £5 million in projects helping organisations create, maintain and upgrade facilities used by the public.
