A weather warning for strong winds covering parts of north-west Scotland, including Skye, is currently in place until 7pm on Wednesday evening.

The Met Office forecast strong south to south westerly winds with gusts of between 50-60mph expected widely, with some exposed coastal and hilly areas also potentially seeing gusts of around 70mph.

Sailings on a number of CalMac ferry routes have been cancelled or disrupted on Wednesday as a result of the weather, with some disruption continuing into Thursday.
