A Harrogate hotel group’s £10m investment programme is paying off

A Harrogate hotel group’s £10 million investment programme is attracting new customers

”We’ve taken a six-year look at what Cedar Court needs to be for the next generation of our guests in Harrogate”

A Harrogate hotel group says it has completed a six-year, £10 million investment programme across its Yorkshire estate.

Highlights of the £10m investment programme include the launch of Amber’s Restaurant at Cedar Court Harrogate.

The investment by Yorkshire’s largest independent family-owned hotel group has transformed guest bedrooms, restaurants, lobby bars, leisure facilities and event spaces across the portfolio, with improvements spanning two gyms, three restaurants and 16 event spaces.

Highlights include the launch of Amber’s Restaurant at Cedar Court Harrogate and new gym facilities at Bradford and Huddersfield, which are also accessible to the wider community.

The results are already being reflected in guest feedback, with Cedar Court Harrogate and Cedar Court Huddersfield recognised in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards in January 2026, placing both among the top 10% of hospitality businesses worldwide based on guest reviews and ratings from the previous 12 months.

Wayne Topley, managing director of Cedar Court Hotels, said: “This programme has been about a lot more than modernising our spaces.

“We’ve taken a six-year look at what Cedar Court needs to be for the next generation of guests, our teams, and the communities we operate in.

“We’ve reinvented the group from the ground up, investing in the spaces guests see, the technology and facilities our teams rely on, and the infrastructure that will make our hotels more efficient and sustainable, moving forward.

“We’re proud to have made that investment here in Yorkshire.

“Cedar Court has been part of the county’s hospitality space for more than 25 years, and this is about securing its place here for decades to come.”

Sustainability has also been a significant part of the transformation, with around £750,000 invested in solar panels across the hotels.

Energy sensors, more efficient hot and cold water systems and improved waste management have also been introduced, helping Cedar Court improve the efficiency of its properties while reducing its environmental impact.

While the £10 million programme marks a significant six-year milestone, investment across Cedar Court is ongoing.

Further bedroom upgrades are already planned, alongside the repurposing of underused meeting spaces into flexible leased accommodation for local businesses.

Wayne added: “While completing this programme is an important moment for Cedar Court, it isn’t the finish line.

“We’re continuing to invest, continuing to improve, and continuing to look at how our hotels can play a bigger role in the communities around them.”
