A NEW "community-focused coffee shop" could be coming to an East Yorkshire coastal town.
Plans have been submitted to convert the former site of award-winning Three B's in Marshall Avenue, Bridlington to new premises.
As reported by The Press, it comes after the micropub moved to a new premises in the town with a £200,000 investment in July of this year.
The application for the coffee shop stated that: "The new use represents a shift from a drinking‑led premises to an inclusive daytime destination, designed to support local residents throughout the year while also encouraging trade and tourism within Bridlington’s town centre."
In a planning application submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the 66 square metre site at 2 Marshall Avenue would include a small kitchen and the interior would be redecorated.
Heritage colours would be used in the shop frontage and signage characteristic of the Bridlington Conservation Area, the plans said.
The coffee shop would be open seven days a week, from 7am Monday to Saturday, and 7am to 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holiday.
The application states the new establishment will serve as a "welcoming, inclusive daytime destination," aiming to support local residents and attract tourism to the town centre.
The owners plan to keep the existing traditional timber frontage, which is characteristic of the Bridlington Conservation Area.
The shopfront would be hand painted in a nod to "traditional craftsmanship", the plans said, and works associated with the plans carried out by local contractors.
The plans said local suppliers to the coffee shop would be used wherever possible, including beans from a Filey-based roaster.
The owners also plan to participate in community projects, including local cleaning initiatives and neighbourhood improvements.
Local tradespeople will carry out all refurbishment, repainting, and fitting out, ensuring spending is retained within the local economy.
The coffee shop intends to operate all year round, with consistent opening hours, instead of operating seasonally.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council's latest consultation date on the application is Friday, October 30.
