A new marketing consultancy is promising to deliver strategic thinking and creative expertise to businesses.

Woodvine Hill, based in York and Knaresborough, aims to bridge the gap between agency-level support and freelance flexibility, offering a tailored approach for small and medium-sized businesses that find themselves too large for a solo freelancer but not ready to take on the expense of a full-service agency.

The business was founded by Polly Woodvine and Melanie Hill, who bring extensive experience from larger agencies and a track record of delivering successful campaigns for both global and local clients.

Polly Woodvine, co-founder of Woodvine Hill, said: "Businesses are often left choosing between a freelancer who specialises in one discipline, or an agency that comes with a level of cost and process that doesn't suit them.

"We wanted to build something in between, a small, senior team that gives clients proper strategic thinking and beautifully executed creative, delivered with the care and responsiveness of working directly with the people doing the work."

Their consultancy brings together content strategy, design, campaign delivery and creative services under one roof, offering a level of expertise without the overheads of a larger agency.

Melanie Hill, co-founder, said: "There's a real appetite among businesses of all sizes for marketing support that's grounded in evidence and genuinely tailored to them, rather than a one-size-fits-all package or AI.

"Between us we've got a broad range of marketing and design experience, and we're using that to help clients see the opportunities they might be missing, and to prioritise what will actually move the needle for their business."

Even before their official launch, the pair had already begun building a client base.

Helen Kennedy of Kennedy Fox praised their "insight, professionalism, and practical approach," noting the team "quickly understood our business and brought fresh ideas, clarity, and real value to the project."

Anna Stewart of Once Gallery described working with Woodvine Hill as "absolutely invaluable" for her small business.

She said: "They identify all the things that you as a business owner don't see, or do see but don't prioritise, and build a case for what needs attention based on evidence and bespoke research."

As female founders in an industry still dominated by larger, male-led agencies, Woodvine and Hill say their business model is shaped by what they have learned works best for clients – senior-level involvement, direct access to the team doing the work, and minimal bureaucracy.

Woodvine Hill serves clients across Yorkshire and further afield, with services including marketing strategy, content planning and delivery, design, UX and UI, and campaign management.
