A giant spider is set to take over the city centre as part of a spooky, family-friendly Halloween event.
The towering inflatable arachnid will crawl through York as part of York BID’s latest Family Friendly Saturday on October 31.
Performances will take place at 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm, with the over eight-foot-tall, 12-foot-wide puppet scuttling through Little Stonegate, Back Swinegate, Swinegate, and Grape Lane.
Carl Alsop, operations manager at York BID, said: "Our Family Friendly Saturdays have become a fantastic way to bring playful, memorable experiences into York’s public spaces.
"The Giant Inflatable Spider will be a really special Halloween spectacle, giving families another great reason to spend time in the city centre together."
Brought to life by a skilled puppeteer, the spider will bounce, sway, and scuttle through the streets, offering an unforgettable experience and a perfect photo opportunity.
The event is free and open to all, with no tickets required.
This marks the 13th Family Friendly Saturday organised by York BID, following 12 previous events that have drawn thousands of families to the city centre for free early-evening experiences.
Family Friendly Saturdays support York BID’s Purple Flag initiative to make the city centre safe, vibrant, and welcoming for all.
