New Mexican restaurant and tequila bar to open in Harrogate

A new Mexican restaurant and tequila bar is preparing to open in Harrogate.

Casa del Alma has announced plans to expand into the town, with the team hoping to welcome its first customers by mid-November.

The business already operates a restaurant in Darlington and a street food unit in Saltburn, and says its Harrogate venue will offer traditional Mexican food, margaritas and tequila.

A spokesperson for Casa del Alma said:

“After the success we had with our restaurant from Darlington and street food unit from Saltburn we are extremely excited to announce that we will bring our Casa del Alma – authentic Mexican food and tequila bar to Harrogate.”

They added:

“Expect a fantastic experience with great traditional food, fabulous Margaritas and tequila, Latino Vibes and much more!”

The chef behind Casa del Alma is Matei Baran, who reached the quarter-finals of BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals in 2016.

Originally from Romania, he trained at Newcastle College and has worked in hotels and restaurants across the North East.

The existing Darlington restaurant, on Skinnergate, serves tacos and small plates alongside cocktails, tequila and mezcal.

Recruitment is also underway for the Harrogate venue, with an online advert seeking full-time and part-time bar staff.

The team said:

“We are aiming to open mid November so keep an eye on our socials to see how we progress.”
