More award success for East Yorkshire pie man

A Pocklington pie man is enjoying repeated award success.

Dan Leaver of Dan’s Pies has won a Silver Award in the Great British Food Awards for his Steak & Wetherby Brew Co Ale Pie.

Dan couldn’t attend the ceremony in London last week as he was selling his pies that day on Pocklington market and he didn’t want to let his customers down.

He said afterwards: “We’re absolutely over the moon to add another national award, especially for a pie that has already done us so proud.

“A big thank you to Wetherby Brew Co for the brilliant local ale that goes into it.”

Dan has also been shortlisted for an EYUP Award, which celebrates East Yorkshire businesses.

He said this award is different to others: “For once, it’s not our pies being judged – it’s our business as a whole! To be shortlisted alongside some other brilliant local businesses and producers is something we’re incredibly proud of.”
