A well-known steak restaurant chain, which has a branch in York, has changed its plans for a new restaurant in Harrogate.

Tomahawk Steakhouse had originally planned to open a restaurant in Parliament Street, where Piccolino’s used to be and before that a Gino D’Acampo My Restaurant.

However, the Newcastle-based company has announced a new restaurant concept for the site.

Tomohawk Steak House Harrogate has posted on social media: “We're proud to have teamed up with sister brand Rio, to come together and bring the exciting new NIPO concept to Harrogate.

“Recently opened in Newcastle, NIPO brings together Japanese Precision with Brazilian fire. Expect robata-style steaks, sushi, bold flavours and dishes made for sharing.”

As yet, no date or timeframe has been announced for the NIPO opening, but renovations of the premises have been underway for several months.

The steakhouse has also posted online: “Things are moving forward just behind the scenes. Our bar has already just been fitted and we have lots of deliveries on their way!”

Tomohawk Steakhouse has a branch in Lendal, York, as well as Middlesborough, Beverley, Durham, Metrocentre, Saltburn and Yarm.

Its sister Rio Bazilian Steakhouse used to operate in Bridge Street, York, where the cowboy-themes Silver Spur is today.
