Delays easing

The delays are easing and traffic is back to normal conditions in both directions along the stretch of road, according to AA.

Update from National Highways

Traffic Officers from National Highways are at the scene assisting with traffic management and local diversions remain in operation. Emergency services remain at the scene. The eastbound carriageway remains closed.

One lane of A64 open

Traffic sensors are now showing the westbound A64 is open between North Lane and the Hopgrove Roundabout, according to traffic monitoring company INRIX.

A64 still closed

The build-up of traffic on the approach to York on the A64 has sightly eased up to the closure, although the road itself still appears to be closed from North Lane to the Hopgrove Roundabout.

Police are advising road users to find alternative routes in the meantime. In addition to the eastbound approach to the Hopgrove roundabout remaining congested, further to the west the York Outer Ring Road is busy on the eastbound approach to the village of Earswick.
