A man is to appear at the crown court charged with robbery and carrying a machete following an incident near York city centre at the weekend.

Mr Fowler, of Ripley Close, Hull, is accused of robbing a named man in York of a Rolex watch and Dior bag and possessing a bladed article, namely a machete, at Hull Railway Station.

He was arrested after police were called to an alleged incident on Leeman Road, York, near the National Railway Museum, at about 2.20pm on Sunday (11 October).

Police cordoned off Park Street and parts of Leeman Road for several hours after the incident.

Two people were taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

Magistrates sent the case to York Crown Court where Mr Fowler will appear on 9 November. He was remanded in custody until then.
