A historic York hotel is set for changes following the approval of plans for a renovation.
Changes to the bar, restaurant and reception area of the Dean Court Hotel have been approved by City of York Council.
The application from its operator The Inn Collection Group stated the works would help it to remain viable while respecting its heritage.
It comes after the hotel’s application for listed building consent was lodged with the council in May.
Some of the renovations to the Duncombe Place hotel were previously approved in principle in 2022.

Plans for the hotel’s Grade II-listed building approved in October proposed removing a modern partition wall to create a larger dining area for its restaurant on the ground floor.
The hotel’s bar is set to move to its reception area which will be remodelled to make space for the enlarged restaurant.
Arrangements for its kitchen and connections between its basement and ground floor are also set to be improved.
Existing customer toilets are set to be refurbished and new ones are set to be created for staff.
Plans stated the changes would improve the hotel’s functionality and operations.
The application stated: “These works are predominantly focused on areas of modern intervention, including the removal and reconfiguration of partitions, upgrades to service infrastructure, and the reorganisation of reception, bar, dining, and kitchen areas.
“The proposals would not adversely affect the architectural, historical, or evidential value of the asset, nor its contribution to the York Central Conservation Area.
“Overall, the proposed development represents a proportionate and sustainable approach to the building’s ongoing use, supporting its continued viability while preserving its identified heritage significance.”
