A giant creepy crawly is coming to York this Halloween.
York BID is inviting families to enjoy a spooky free city-centre experience this Halloween – as a giant inflatable spider arrives for the latest Family Friendly Saturday event.
Appearing on Saturday 31 October with performances at2pm, 3pm and 4pm, the giant spider puppet will be scuttling along Little Stonegate, Back Swinegate, Swinegate, and Grape Lane.
This is a free event with no tickets needed.
Towering above onlookers at over 8 feet tall and spanning an impressive 12 feet wide, the spider is brought to life by a skilled puppeteer.
As it moves through the city, the spider will bounce, sway and scuttle through the streets, creating an unforgettable experience and brilliant photo opportunity for families and visitors of all ages.
Carl Alsop, operations manager at York BID, said: “Our Family Friendly Saturdays have become a fantastic way to bring playful, memorable experiences into York’s public spaces.
“The Giant Inflatable Spider will be a really special Halloween spectacle, giving families another great reason to spend time in the city centre together.”
The Giant Inflatable Spider is York BID’s 13th Family Friendly Saturday, following 12 successful events that attracted thousands of families into the city centre for free early-evening experiences.
Family Friendly Saturdays form a key part of York BID’s Purple Flag initiative, creating family-friendly experiences in the city centre to ensure York continues to be a vibrant, safe and welcoming destination.
