A RISING star of the opera world has brought music and inspiration to the next generation.
Yorkshire-born professional bass-baritone Harrison Gration visited Manorfield Infant and Nursery School in Batley on October 1, where he spent an afternoon performing and leading singing workshops with children aged three to seven.
For many of the young pupils, it was their first time hearing a professional opera singer or a live performance.
Kate Ellis-Holmes, headteacher at Manorfield, said: "It was absolutely amazing.
"Our learners were completely in awe of Harrison and you could see how captivated they were by his voice and his performance.
"Experiences like this are so important because they open our learners’ eyes to possibilities they might never have considered before.
"I’m sure they’ll be talking about this experience for a long time.
"Who knows, we may even have the next Harrison here with us at Manorfield."
Mr Gration’s visit followed a conversation with Samantha Vickers, CEO of Batley Multi Academy Trust, during a visit to 10 Downing Street.
He also spent time at Batley Girls’ High School, meeting the cast of Matilda and giving a live performance, with some students receiving singing lessons during his visit.
