A NURSERY group has appointed a new leader to strengthen its approach to special educational needs and inclusion.

Dr Karen Boardman has joined Partou, which operates more than 100 nurseries nationally, including three in Harrogate.

She will lead on inclusive education across all settings.

Dr Boardman said: "I am delighted to be taking on this role at such a pivotal time for the early years sector.

"I have been impressed by the way in which Partou has approached these issues and look forward to playing a key part in delivering the highest standards of inclusive early education across our settings."

With more than 35 years’ experience in early years, education, and SEND, Dr Boardman holds a Doctorate in Early Childhood Education from the University of Sheffield.

She previously served as former Head of Department for Early Years Education at Edge Hill University.

At Partou, she will report to Sam Sleeman-Boss, head of early years.
