A NATIONAL campaign is encouraging young people to get involved in democracy.

Judith Cummins, MP for Bradford South and a Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, has called on schools, youth groups and community organisations across the city to take part in UK Parliament Week, which runs from November 23 to 29.

The annual event aims to raise awareness of Parliament’s role and how individuals—especially young people—can engage with democracy.

Ms Cummins said: "Parliament Week is a fantastic opportunity to inspire the next generation to use their voice to change their communities.

"It is about much more than learning about how British democracy and Parliament works: it is an opportunity for young people to learn more about how decisions are made, and to talk and ask questions about the things that affect their lives, whether that’s policy set in Westminster, or local issues here in Bradford South."

Groups that register will receive a free activity kit, including booklets, a pop-up ballot box, stickers and banners.

Ms Cummins has also offered to visit participating groups in November, join activities virtually or record a video message.

More than 2.8 million people took part in UK Parliament Week 2025, with events held across the UK.
