With Bonfire Night just weeks away, Cleveland Fire Brigade is warning residents not to underestimate the dangers posed by fireworks, sparklers and bonfires.
The warning follows 165 incidents across Teesside and Cleveland during last year's celebrations, including dozens of fires that spiralled out of control.

Hannah Smith, head of prevention and engagement at Cleveland Fire Brigade, said: "We want everyone across our communities to enjoy Bonfire Night, but most importantly, to enjoy it safely.
"The safest way to enjoy fireworks is by attending a professionally organised display.
"There are a number of organised events taking place across Cleveland, and we would strongly encourage people to attend one of these wherever possible."
Organised displays include free events in Stockton and Hartlepool on Sunday, November 1.
Fireworks may be a familiar part of celebrations, but they are explosives and can cause serious injuries when handled incorrectly.
Every year, fireworks, bonfires and sparklers injure thousands, most often damaging the hands, wrists and eyes.
Sparklers alone can reach temperatures of more than 2,000C.

Those celebrating at home are advised to stay sober, supervise children, keep away from fireworks, keep pets indoors, consider neighbours and buy fireworks only from licensed retailers.
Arson is another major Bonfire Night threat - endangering lives and property while pulling crews away from other emergencies.
The 165 incidents recorded on Bonfire Night in 2025 were 12 per cent higher than the previous year.
They included numerous bonfires, 18 of which spiralled out of control, along with rubbish fires, two property fires and one flat fire.
