Netflix to return to Saltburn seaside to film Roald Dahl-inspired TV series

Councillor Stuart Smith has confirmed Netflix will return to Saltburn later this month to continue filming for a mystery new series currently known as Zoltar.

Netflix is returning to the North Yorkshire coast later this month to film its latest project.

Councillor Stuart Smith said Netflix crews will return to Saltburn later this October to film a project currently known as Zoltar.

It is a new series understood to be based on Roald Dahl’s short stories for adults.

The six-episode series will follow a young couple marooned in a faded seaside town who face multiple adaptations of Roald Dahl's adult short stories.

The shoot is expected to be part of the same production that brought stars including Toby Jones and Nicola Coughlan and Naomi Scott to Saltburn last month.

Councillor Smith said: "It is encouraging to see Saltburn continuing to attract film and television productions, bringing the town to the attention of a wider audience.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding while this work takes place.

"Hopefully, we can all look forward to seeing Saltburn on screen when the series is released."

Preparations will take place on October 20 and 21, followed by production on October 22 and 23.

For safety, the Pier and the amusement arcade will be closed to the public on Thursday, October 22, with temporary stop-and-go traffic management systems in place for filming at the charity shop.

Netflix is understood to be working with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and its Film Office to minimise disruption for residents.

Saltburn has become a popular location for film and television recently, thanks to its dramatic coastline and seaside charm.

Councillor Smith said he hopes the production will help raise Saltburn's profile and attract more visitors, while giving residents the chance to see their town featured on one of the world's biggest streaming platforms.
