A jockey has swapped the racecourse for a new venture in an unexpected line of work.

Henry Brooke, a popular jump jockey from Tadcaster, has launched North Yorkshire Toilets, a business providing VIP toilet trailers and portaloos for events across the region.

The 35-year-old retired after an injury forced him to reconsider his long-term future in racing.

Mr Brooke said: "As I was rehabbing from a broken leg after a fall at Perth last September, I started to wonder if my childhood dream of being a jockey might be coming to an end.

"I wanted a second career that would allow me to be outdoors, working in a place I love so much, North Yorkshire.

"When I looked at all of the events happening in the region, from weddings and parties to festivals, fetes, and building sites needing temporary toilets, I realised that it was a relationship business that would really suit me."

He has invested in a number of luxury mobile units and individual toilets and is already building a strong reputation with his fledgling business.

Mr Brooke said: "People have been wonderful, supporting me and the business."
