A North East footpath has close for several months to allow major sewer construction works to be carried out.

Gateshead Council has announced a temporary traffic regulation order affecting Gladeley Way, Sunniside, starting October 12.

The closure will prevent pedestrians from using the footpath on Gladeley Way from a point 4.1m southeast of No 37 Gladeley Way in a northeasterly direction for a distance of 18m.

The works are anticipated to be completed by January 31, 2027.

During this period, pedestrians, except those associated with the works and emergency service operatives on duty, will be barred from using the footpath.

The restriction will remain in place until the completion of the works or as directed by traffic signs.

A signed diversion will be provided throughout the duration of the works.
