Two whisky stills from Speyside which date back more than 100 years have gone up for auction.

The two historic distillation kettles, measuring 8,000 and 11,000 litres respectively, originate from the Caperdonich distillery.

They date back to its founding in 1898, with the distillery closing four years later than operating again between 1965 and 2002.

Caperdonich was closed a year after it was acquired by Pernod Ricard in 2001, and demolished in the Autumn of 2010.

Of the four stills, two were sold and repurposed for use at the Falkirk distillery while the other two were sold to the Belgian Owl distillery in Fexhe-le-Haut-Clocher in Liège Province.

However, that distillery entered liquidation in January of this year and all of its assets have been put up for auction.

Included are the two pot stills from 1898, which have a starting price of €18,750 (£15,844).

However, the price to buy the stills is only the beginning of the cost to the buyer.

Auction website Auctim warns the buyer must dismantle the stills professionally without causing damage to the distillery building.

To remove the stills a window frame will have to be removed from the building.

The listing makes clear: "After the removal of the lot, the buyer is obliged to replace the window frame in its original state and position, without damage to the building. All associated costs shall be borne by the buyer."

The auction will open on October 29 and continue until November 12 at 1pm local time.

Viewings are available between 11am and 1pm on November 5 and collection or shipping is available.

In total there are 56 lots available from the liquidation of Belgian Owl.

The most expensive piece of equipment is a fully automatic filling, labeling, and packaging line, with bids starting at €37,500 (£31,669) while bidding for a three-door bar cooler starts at €100 and there is no minimum bid for a complete set of office furniture.

Also up for auction is the whisky itself, with more than 20,000 bottles available across nearly 3,000 lots.

The bidding for four bottles of Belgian Owl Single Malt Gold Diamond "Eau-De-Vie de Safran" Cask Finish begins at €1,200 but a single bottle of single malt Black Intense starts at a more affordable €10.

A separate online auction of more than 3,500 whisky casks from the Owl Distillery is currently being prepared. Full details on the composition of the auction, timing and applicable collection and excise conditions will be announced separately.
