A York pub has reopened under new management four years after closing.

Alison and Gary Clarkson opened the doors to Trafalgar Bay, in Nunnery Lane on Tuesday (October 13).

The pair have managed a series of pubs, including another Sam Smiths venue, for six years.

Speaking about this, Alison said: “We received the keys about a month ago.

“We ran The Old Hall in Heckmondwike for three and a half years before managing a pub in Stokesley.”

As reported by The Press, Trafalgar Bay was due to reopen on September 29 but was delayed due to it needing a new dishwater and equipment failures in the cellar.

The couple, originally from Mirfield, have now moved to York.

Alison said: “We’ve loved York so far and we look forward to meeting the locals.

“I thought I knew the city, but I had never taken into account all of its little areas.

“Thankfully, we’re just about managing to navigate it now.

“We’re happy to be here.”

Speaking about the late Humphrey Smith, the pair said: “He visited our pub a few years ago.

“We found him to be lovely – nice, police, if a little quiet.”

Trafalgar Bay will now open from 11am till 11pm (Monday to Saturday), and 12pm till 10.30pm on Sunday.
