DRIVERS in York are facing delays in a key city centre road after new traffic lights were put in place.

New four-way temporary traffic lights were installed last night (October 12) in York city centre at the crossroads between Micklegate, Skeldergate, Bridge Street and North Street.

The works – which are described as ‘utility repair and maintenance works’ – were started at 8.40pm last night and are taking place between the junction and Ouse Bridge.

Traffic is queuing both ways - along Micklegate, down George Hudson Street, and towards York Station, and up towards the junction of Low Ousegate and Coney Street.

This is set to continue until 11.59pm on Friday (16 October).
